To get in touch with the latest ebike and pedelec trends I did a trip with friends to Friedlichshafen at the Bodensee.
The Eurobike is by far the biggest bike trade fair of europe. This year they even had to extend the space including the zeppelin hangar - and guess what, it was used for THE new trend: electric supported or just electric bikes!
There was also an indoor and outdoor test circuit and we had a good time riding around:

Great idea! The akku and motor are both mounted in the wheels.

The commando central of an pedelec. Typical additional information you get are batterie status and support rate of the electric motor.

The "izip express" is one of the most advanced bikes on the market, it speeds up to 50 km/h and therefor you even need a license plate. With this speed you can also go far distances to work in short time, which you have never had though of before to bike.
They also had this transparent bike on their stand, where you could have a look in the inside of the bike. A technical masterpiece:

It has a special differential gearbox designed by Michael Kutter, which gives the bike a very dynamic riding behavior.

My grandfather is looking forward to ride an pedelec in spring09. I suggested him to buy an Flyer-C with the possibility to mount 26" MTB tired on it to be able to ride all of our crazy roads in tyrol. The one on the picture is a special carbon edition, it costs 4000€+ ... a bit to much. :-)
And now finally this bike was really WOW:

These freaks from hungary really pushed their concept to the limit, they've build a stylish custom-carbon-framed eMTB. They assembled the best components available on the market and want sell just 999 units to keep it special. Well done guys!
Those were some of my highlights of the Eurobike08, we really had to hurry to walk at least through the whole fair trade in six hours!
Hope you enjoyed the report! If you need some pics in higher resolution or some ideas, just
